Why It’s Good that Life is Hard by Randy Gage

Every day, millions of people are reading books, scrolling through social media, or perusing blogs, seemingly desperate for a shortcut or hack to make their lives easier.

But what if life isn’t meant to be so easy?

Most people think the opposite of success is failure, but that’s way off base. I believe the opposite of success is mediocrity.  In the real world, failure is an integral part of success. Failures allow you to learn lessons, modify strategies, and develop the necessary character to become successful.

Failures are not dead-end outcomes. Unless you quit, and then you’ve ended the story. The entrepreneur (Or artist, organizer, or visionary) who doesn’t make mistakes doesn’t make anything.

Think about the stuff that really matters in life.  It’s hard.

  • Being in relationships is hard. Not being in relationships is harder.
  • Staying healthy is hard. Being sick is harder.
  • Living your dreams is hard. Not living your dreams is harder.

Pretty much everything that really matters is hard. The real question is…

What’s important enough that you’re willing to suffer or sacrifice for?

Peace,

– RG
